NPFL champions Rangers International’s matchday three fixture against Nasarawa United has been moved to the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Imo State, after organisers confirmed the original venue was unavailable.
A Change Of Venue, Same Date
The NPFL announced the switch on its official X handle on Tuesday, explaining that the match could no longer be staged at the Awka Township Stadium in Anambra as initially planned. The league body said, “Date still remains Thursday, September 17, 2026,” confirming the fixture would go ahead as scheduled, just at a different venue.
A Slow Start In The League
Rangers opened their league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Katsina United at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, a venue they also used for the first leg of their CAF Champions League tie against Sobemap of Benin Republic. The Flying Antelopes currently sit 16th in the table having played just one league match, while Nasarawa United occupy 13th spot with three points from two games.
Ezeaku Rewards The Squad
Away from league matters, Rangers general manager Amobi Ezeaku has handed the players a $10,000 cash reward for reaching the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. Addressing the squad after their penalty shootout win over Sobemap in Lome, Togo, Ezeaku said, “This $10,000 is for you guys,” and promised further rewards would follow as the team continues its progress in the competition. He also urged the players to stay disciplined as they prepare for a tougher test in the next round.
