Kelvin Okechukwu Ejeh has resigned as assistant coach of Enyimba, citing irreconcilable differences with technical adviser Emmanuel Deutsch. He said on Saturday morning that trust had broken down and the working relationship was over.
Ejeh said he doesn’t “function effectively well under a toxic environment.” He added that trust is gone when a boss listens to gossip without hearing from you.
Ejeh’s Account
He called Enyimba a club close to his heart and thanked chairman Kanu Nwankwo, the former Super Eagles captain, for his leadership. He also said he will miss the fans, who want the best from everyone in the team.
Ejeh spoke warmly of Deutsch despite the split, calling him a senior brother from whom he learned a lot. Fans following the Enyimba saga can check YOHAIG’s Bet9ja welcome package before the weekend’s games.
Who Is Ejeh?
Fans know Ejeh affectionately as “Mourinho.” He served in the Nigerian Army from 1999 and left in 2006, then spent 12 years as head coach of second-tier club Abia Comets.
He joined Enyimba alongside Deutsch in the 2025/26 season, after the departure of Stanley Eguma. He is also studying Sports Management at Abia State Polytechnic.
Ejeh said he will return home to his family and rest while his manager explores options. He gave no details of a next club.
Timing for Enyimba
The resignation came a day before Enyimba host Plateau United in Aba on Sunday, October 4, at 4pm. Enyimba are 19th on four points from six games, with a single win, the 4-2 victory over Shooting Stars.
Joel Ezra and goalkeeper Utum Godswill are back for the game. Fans who like predicting NPFL results can try Bet9ja’s Super9ja prediction game for NPFL.
