Doma United technical adviser Ayodeji Ayeni has praised his players’ performance despite their 2-2 draw with Plateau United in a matchday five NPFL encounter, insisting the attacking side of the display was a positive sign.
A Two-Goal Lead Slips Away
The Savannah Tigers raced into a commanding lead at home, with Adegbite Michael scoring twice to put Doma United 2-0 up. Plateau United hit back in the second half, however, with Gideon Monday and Paul Samson both finding the net to secure a share of the points for the visitors.
Ayeni Points To A Deflected Opener
Speaking to Doma United’s media afterward, Ayeni said his players had played well overall, arguing that scoring goals in the first place was proof of that. He explained that the team had been trying to consolidate their advantage, but felt Plateau United’s first goal came against the run of play via a deflection that could not have been prevented. He said the priority now is to lift the players’ spirits and encourage them to start picking up points on the road as well as at home.
Two Games Without A Win
The result leaves Doma United winless in their last two league matches, and they have slipped to third in the NPFL table with 10 points from five games. Ayeni will be looking for a response when his side travel to face Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.
