Alozie and Kanu’s goals have given Eguavoen’s side a two goal cushion, with Morocco waiting in the next round.

Tuesday’s decider
Nigeria’s Super Falcons will look to secure a place in the third round of the 2028 Olympic women’s football qualifiers when they face Comoros at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Tuesday. The 10 time African champions lead 2-0 after the first leg, with goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu. FootballInNigeria.com.ng reports that the winner over the two legs will face Morocco in March 2027.
Comoros have no CAF-approved venue for international matches, so both legs are being played in Nigeria. The visitors were the nominal home side in the first game.

Chasing a second straight Olympics
The Falcons are aiming for a second consecutive Olympic Games after returning to the women’s tournament at Paris 2024. That was their first Olympic appearance in 16 years.
Interim coach Augustine Eguavoen won his first competitive game in charge in the first leg. He took over from Justine Madugu, who was sacked after Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
Eguavoen has said the camp has a full house after four withdrawals, including Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre, Oluwatosin Demehin and Flourish Sabastine. Late call-up Blessing Okpe joined to complete the group.

Comoros’ threat
Comoros reached this round by beating Sudan 30-0 on aggregate. That scoreline shows they can score, but they trail by two goals and will need to attack in Ikenne.
The Falcons will want an early goal to settle the tie and avoid a nervy finish. Alozie and Kanu both scored after the break in the first leg, so patience could again be rewarded.

The road to Los Angeles
Africa has two places at Los Angeles 2028, and the qualifying series has five rounds. The third round is scheduled for February 23 to March 6, 2027, and the final round runs from November 23 to December 4, 2027.
Can Eguavoen’s side finish the job on Tuesday? A place in the third round would keep Nigeria’s Olympic hopes alive.
