Moses Simon was a late substitute as Paris FC beat Rennes 4-3 in a wild Ligue 1 game at the Stade Jean Bouin on Sunday. The Nigeria winger came on with 11 minutes left and Paris FC leading 3-2, and the game still had two more goals in it.
The win lifts Paris FC to 14 points, level with league champions PSG at the top of the table. PSG beat Strasbourg 3-1 on Saturday despite resting most of their stars, so the French capital’s two clubs now share top spot. Maxime Lopez gave Paris FC the lead in the 14th minute. Estéban Lepaul levelled for Rennes from the penalty spot in the 29th. Lopez then restored the advantage with a goal in first half stoppage time (45+4), and Paris FC went in at 2-1.
Rennes refused to go away. Lepaul scored from the spot again in the 74th minute to make it 2-2, then a third time in the 88th to drag his side level at 3-3. That completed a hat-trick made up entirely of penalties.
Sinayoko was Paris FC’s answer each time. He put the hosts 3-2 up in the 76th minute, and after Lepaul’s last equaliser he stepped up for a penalty of his own in the 90+7th minute to win it.
Simon’s cameo was short, but it matters for Nigerian fans watching Europe. He joined Paris FC from Nantes in June 2025 on a deal that runs to 2028. New Bet9ja users can look at Nigeria’s top Bet9ja code before backing Nigerian players in Europe.
What does this game say about Paris FC? They were pegged back three times by Rennes and still found a way to win. That’s a result with character.
It also says something about Sinayoko. The Mali forward scored a hat-trick at Marseille on September 6, finishing it with an 86th-minute penalty that won the game 3-2. Now he has won a second match from the spot this season.
Next up is a trip to Lens on Saturday, October 24. That’s a tougher test than Rennes on paper, and Paris FC will need to defend better than they did on Sunday. Conceding three times and still winning is a trick that only works so often.
