Brentford have handed Michael Kayode a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until June 2032, with an option for a further year, just one season after his move from Fiorentina.

Kayode initially joined the Bees on loan in January 2025 before an €18 million permanent deal was activated last summer, and he went on to establish himself as a key part of Brentford’s defence in his first full season in England.

A Player Who Feels At Home In West London

Speaking to Brentford’s official website, Kayode said he had settled into the club as though it were a second family, describing his relationships with teammates and staff as a major reason for wanting to extend his stay. He said his development, both on and off the pitch, had exceeded his own expectations since arriving in England.

Andrews Praises Full-Back’s Growth

Head coach Keith Andrews was equally glowing in his assessment, telling the club’s website that Kayode’s development and overall evolution over the past year had been genuinely impressive. Andrews described the defender as a pleasure to coach and work with daily, and said the new deal was fully merited given his impact on the squad.

A Breakout First Season In England

The 21 year old scored one goal and provided two assists across 44 appearances in all competitions during his debut campaign, form that earned him a nomination for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Season award. His versatility across the back line has made him an increasingly important figure for Andrews’ side.
