Six in eight for Durosinmi
Rafiu Durosinmi says the support of his Genk team-mates is behind his superb start to life in the Belgian Pro League. The 23 year old scored in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Kortrijk, taking his tally to six goals in eight league appearances. FootballInNigeria.com.ng reports that it was Genk’s first game after the international break.
“I’m happy to be able to put on the shirt with the Golden Bull,” he told HBVL. He said wearing it gives him extra motivation, and that the help of his team-mates makes scoring easier.

Staying in Genk
Durosinmi did not travel for the international break and stayed in Genk instead. He spent a few days off with his family, though he admitted he missed playing.
He said Genk dropped some points before the break, so it was important to start winning again for the club and the fans. He added that the team was hungry to return to winning ways.
He also said the most important thing is not to be at the top now but to still be there at the end of the season.

A record signing finding his feet
Genk signed Durosinmi from Pisa on July 23 on a four-year deal, paying a club record €10.5 million. The previous Genk record was €7.5 million, and Pisa have a 10 percent sell-on clause.
He had joined Pisa from Viktoria Plzeň in January 2026 and managed one goal in 12 Serie A games as the club were relegated. In Czech football he scored 35 goals and made 10 assists in 86 games for Plzeň.

The Genk tradition
Durosinmi is the 14th Nigerian to sign for Genk. He steps into the role left by Tolu Arokodare, who joined Wolves last year after winning the Golden Boot.
Genk technical director Dimitri De Condé said Durosinmi’s qualities fit the way the club wants to play. Six goals in eight league games suggest that early view was right.
Can he keep scoring until the end of the season? He knows that is the real test.
