Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has opened up about his unwavering belief in fulfilling his dream of playing in the Premier League, despite facing numerous setbacks during his time at Liverpool. The Reds signed him from Imperial Academy in 2015, but due to work permit issues, Awoniyi never made an appearance for the club. Instead, he embarked on multiple loan spells with clubs across Europe, including FSV Frankfurt, NEC, Mouscron, KAA Gent, Mainz 05, and Union Berlin.
Awoniyi, now 27, has made 50 Premier League appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists all while playing for Nottingham Forest. Although he was an unused substitute in Nigeria’s recent AFCON qualifier against Benin, Awoniyi’s journey to the Premier League remains an inspiring story of resilience and perseverance.
