Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has praised the Flying Eagles after their impressive 3-0 win over Togo in Group B of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship.

Abdu Maikaba’s side thrashed the Sparrow Hawks in Yamoussoukro on Thursday, with Muiz Adeleke scoring twice and Abdoulaye Agbeloye adding the third goal in a convincing victory.

Chelle, who travelled to Yamoussoukro to support the Flying Eagles, praised the players for their response after a difficult opening half. He explained that Togo had started the game well and made things tough for Nigeria early on, but said the second half instruction to press higher up the pitch paid off, with the team getting the ball back in dangerous areas and creating chances they went on to convert, adding, “I was happy with what I saw in the second half.”

The result confirms the Flying Eagles’ place in the semi-finals, with the side already topping Group B on six points from two matches. Nigeria will now face second-placed Burkina Faso, on four points, in a decisive clash in Yamoussoukro on Saturday to determine the group winners.
