Super Eagles midfielder Chidera Ejuke featured for Sevilla on Saturday as they went down 3-1 to reigning champions Barcelona in La Liga. Making his sixth appearance of the season, Ejuke was introduced in the 59th minute for Jose Angel Carmona and put in a lively shift down the flank as Sevilla searched for a way back into the match.
A Bright Start Undone By Raphinha
Sevilla had shocked the visitors with an early lead in the 19th minute, sending the home crowd into raptures. Barcelona responded quickly, though, with Raphinha levelling matters just three minutes later. The Brazilian struck again early in the second half to put Barcelona ahead, before completing his hat trick to put the result beyond Sevilla’s reach.
Barcelona Stay Perfect
Despite late pushes from the home side, Barcelona saw out the remainder of the match comfortably to secure all three points and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
