Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze provided an assist as AC Milan opened their Serie A season with a 2-1 win away at Torino on Sunday, Complete Sports reports.
Chukwueze started and played the full 90 minutes under new head coach Ruben Amorim. With Milan already 1-0 up through Alphadjo Cisse’s 64th-minute opener, Chukwueze set up Adrien Rabiot to double the lead three minutes later. Torino pulled a goal back through Che Adams in stoppage time, but it proved only a consolation as Milan held on for the win.
An Encouraging Start Under Amorim
The result puts Milan in fourth place in the early Serie A standings after the first round of fixtures. Chukwueze will be hoping the performance helps convince Amorim to keep him involved regularly, particularly after finishing last season on loan at Fulham, where he made 23 Premier League appearances with three goals and four assists.
A Tougher Opener For Adams
It was a different story for fellow Nigerian Akor Adams, who played the full match as newly promoted Venezia suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Lecce. Adams joined Venezia this summer from Sevilla, where he scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 32 league appearances last season, and will be looking to bounce back quickly as Venezia begin life back in Serie A.
