Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets suffered a second consecutive loss at the Four-Nation Invitational Tournament in China, going down 4-2 to Australia on Wednesday.

There were signs of attacking promise in the loss to Australia, but the Golden Eaglets struggled defensively, with Australia capitalising on lapses at the back to seal the win.
Nigeria will close out the tournament against hosts China on Saturday, a fixture that offers a final chance to fine tune tactics and build cohesion before the squad’s next assignment.
The China trip is part of the Golden Eaglets’ preparations for the WAFU B U-17 Championship in September, a regional qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, which will in turn determine the continent’s representatives at the next FIFA U-17 World Cup.
