Editorial

The election of Godwin Enakhena and his team to lead the Nigeria National League NNL Club Owners Association comes at a crucial time for Nigerian football. Enakhena’s extensive experience in sports journalism and his leadership role at Sporting Lagos FC make him a strong candidate to guide the NNL into a new era of growth and professionalism. We believe that his election is a positive step forward, and we hope that under his leadership, the NNL will continue to thrive, providing a platform for clubs to develop and compete at a high level.

Alongside Enakhena, other officials were elected to key positions. Wikki Tourists General Manager, Engr. Mohammed Auwalu Gotal was elected as Vice-Chairman I for the Northern zone, while Fatai Olayinka, Sporting Director of Madiba FC, took the role of Vice Chairman II for the Southern zone.

The composition of the new executive team, featuring key figures from Northern and Southern clubs, reflects a balanced and inclusive approach that can foster unity across the league. These new leaders bring a wealth of experience from their respective clubs and are well positioned to address the challenges facing the NNL.

As the 2024/25 season approaches, it is clear that the expectations are high, not only for the league’s competitiveness but also for the administrative efficiency and governance that will underpin its success. We believe that Enakhena and his team are capable of driving the necessary reforms and innovations to elevate the NNL to greater heights.
