Godwin Adode, also known as Coach Tete, has been elected as the new chairman of the Delta State Football Association. Adode, who previously served as the chairman of Delta Stars Football Club, returned to sports leadership after an eight year tenure as the chairman of Ughelli North Local Government. He succeeds Hon. Ken Nwoamucha, a former Warri Wolves FC chairman.
Other key officials elected alongside Adode include Warri Wolves chairman as Vice Chairman, Igho David former Nigeria Referee Association Vice President, Azuka Chiemeka former SWAN chairman, Sam Sodje former Super Eagles defender, Coach Jonah Famatua, and Solomon Iweribo, a retired professional footballer. Iweribo secured his position after defeating former BBC Lioners player Lucky Sunday with 25 votes to 3.
In his acceptance speech, Adode promised to implement an open door policy and focus on grassroots sports development, working closely with Governor Sheriff Oborewovori’s administration to boost sports in Delta State.
