Augustine Eguavoen, Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, announced that the NFF’s Technical Department will be well represented at the upcoming NNL Super 8 playoff in Enugu next month. Eguavoen emphasized the significance of the Nigeria National League NNL as it serves as a crucial platform for young players who could potentially join the national U20 and U23 teams.
Eguavoen expressed his enthusiasm for attending the matches in Enugu, highlighting the importance of the NNL in nurturing young talent. NNL is very important, it is a critical project for the Nigeria Football Federation, featuring players who are key for our national youth teams, he stated. Eguavoen also mentioned that Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso would be in attendance to scout for new talent.
Eguavoen, affectionately known as Cerezo, called on the coaches of the participating teams to uphold high standards of professionalism both on and off the pitch. We expect the best behaviour from the coaches and their crew to align with global standards. The national and global focus will be on the NNL, and the conduct of the coaches will reflect on us. We will closely monitor the coaches, and they should focus on producing the best teams and tactics, he added.
Similarly, former Nigerian international Garba Lawal advised the teams and their management to maintain discipline. This league is important. I started my career in this league with Nigeria Union Bank Football Club of Kaduna. Discipline has always been my watchword, Lawal said. He emphasized the necessity of upholding the league’s reputation.
The NNL Super Eight will take place at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium from June 7 to 14, 2024.
