Valencia head coach Javier Aguirre has expressed his delight at Umar Sadiq’s return to action after the Nigerian striker spent around two months out with injury. Sadiq scored the only goal as Valencia beat Elche 1-0 on Sunday night.
Sadiq replaced Pablo Maffeo in the 61st minute. Just six minutes later, he scored the decisive goal to secure all three points for Los Che.
It was Valencia’s first win since Aguirre took charge of the club in September. The result also ended a difficult run in which the team struggled for goals.
Aguirre told the club’s website that Sadiq’s return is “a joy for everyone.” Fans following La Liga can also claim YOHAIG offer for La Liga fans before the next round.
A Timely Return
Sadiq had been out with a muscle injury, and he has played only a handful of games this season. The striker had been sidelined since early September.
His return came at the right time. Valencia scored just six goals in their first nine league games, so a fit striker was badly needed.
Aguirre also pointed to a missed chance. The coach said Valencia had an opportunity to make it 2-0, and he did not know what happened in that play.
Elche had their chances too, and the hosts could have taken a point. The coach said the victory felt good all the same. Anyone curious about promotions can read the Bet9ja sign-up bonus walkthrough first.
Real Madrid Next
Valencia now turn their attention to Real Madrid. Aguirre said the team does not need extra motivation to face one of the best sides in Europe.
He hopes his players can put in a good performance. A strong showing would continue the momentum from the Elche win.
Sadiq has now scored twice in four league appearances for Valencia this season. His other goal came in a loss to Deportivo.
Can Sadiq keep scoring? He has a history of coming off the bench to decide games, including the winner at Athletic Club last May. Readers can also check these Bet9ja bonus code tips before the Real Madrid game.
