Hamburg coach Merlin Polzin has given an update on Terem Moffi’s knee injury ahead of the Bundesliga trip to TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday, October 10. The Nigeria striker has been struggling since Hamburg’s last league game, a 2-1 win over FC Cologne before the international break.
Polzin told Kicker that the knee “reacted a bit more than I initially thought.” He wants to avoid rushing Moffi back and says the club will keep monitoring him this week.
Where the Knee Problem Began
Moffi was replaced by Yussuf Poulsen after the break in the Cologne game. The problem has lingered since, even with the international window giving him time to recover.
The 27 year old joined Hamburg on a season-long loan from French club OGC Nice. He is yet to score in four Bundesliga appearances, and fans who follow the league’s betting markets can read how Bet9ja booking codes work before matchday.
Outlook for Hoffenheim
Kicker reports, via RotoWire, that Moffi took a small step forward on Tuesday by returning to the training pitch for light running. He still cannot take part in regular training, and the Hoffenheim game is unlikely to come in time.
Hamburg’s attack is already stretched. Patson Daka is managing a muscle problem, which would leave Poulsen and 19 year old Otto Stange as the main central options if Moffi misses out. Danish playmaker Albert Grønbaek, who had two assists against Cologne, also tore a thigh muscle on international duty and may return for the Stuttgart game on October 17.
Moffi’s recent seasons have been stop-start. An ACL injury wiped out most of his 2024/25 campaign, and he spent the second half of last season on loan at Porto, where he scored twice in 15 games. Bettors tracking Bundesliga injuries can check the YOHAIG code for new players before the next round.
He has scored 54 goals in 148 Ligue 1 games for Lorient and Nice and has 23 caps for Nigeria. Hamburg hoped his 1.88m frame would give them the target man they lacked last season.
What Comes Next
Hamburg play at Hoffenheim at 3:30pm German time on Saturday, October 10, and host Stuttgart on October 17. Both games arrive quickly for a squad missing several forwards.
