Plateau United and Mighty Jets both began their campaigns at the 2026 NPFL Invitational Pre-Season Tournament with wins.
In the opening fixture, Plateau United beat last season’s NPFL runners-up Rivers United 1-0, with Jubril Ibrahim scoring the only goal of the game in the 29th minute. In the day’s second match, Mighty Jets edged El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0, Usman Meyanga netting the winner in the 56th minute after capitalising on a goalkeeping error.
Action Continues In Jos
The tournament continues with Katsina United facing El-Kanemi Warriors, followed by reigning NPFL champions Rangers taking on Rivers United in what should be one of the standout fixtures of the competition so far.
Preparation With A Purpose
The Super Six Invitational Tournament is designed specifically to help Nigeria’s representatives in this season’s CAF inter club competitions sharpen their form ahead of the preliminary rounds.
