CAF has hailed Moses Usor for the goal that put the Super Eagles 2-1 ahead of Madagascar in Friday’s Group L opener of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Uyo. Usor was making his Super Eagles debut.
A Debut Goal Within Four Minutes
The winger replaced Samuel Chukwueze in the 61st minute and needed only four minutes to make his mark. He picked up the ball in his own half, drove towards the left flank, went past two defenders inside the box and finished low with his left foot.

The continental body shared the moment on X, describing the strike as a one-man show and a stylish finish on Nigeria’s road through the qualifiers.
Ilenikhena Also Scores On Debut
Usor was not the only new face to find the net. George Ilenikhena, also making his debut, equalised for Nigeria in first half stoppage time.

Usor will hope to build on his performance when the Super Eagles face Guinea-Bissau in their matchday two fixture on Tuesday, September 29.
