Alex Iwobi believes Fulham can finally build some momentum after his first half goal gave them a 1-0 win over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday. The Nigeria midfielder’s strike ended a winless start to the Premier League season.
Iwobi scored in the 33rd minute. Sander Berge won the loose ball and slid it to Iwobi on the edge of the box, and his low shot took a deflection off Lucas Herrington before beating goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis. Anyone backing Fulham’s next result can check EPL odds at Bet9ja first.
It was Fulham’s first league win in seven games. They had opened the campaign with four defeats and two draws. The three points lift them to five and out of the relegation zone.
It was also the first Premier League win for manager Álvaro Arbeloa since he took charge in July. He had faced scrutiny over his future after the poor start, so the result buys him some breathing room.
Iwobi told Fulham TV that “the win was a long time coming.” He insisted the team’s performances had often been better than the results suggested.
He said the manager has asked the squad to keep going and hopes the luck will now turn. The team must use this momentum for the rest of the season, he added. New Bet9ja users can look at the YOHAIG bonus code before the next round.
Iwobi also admitted Fulham could have been more clinical. Even he faces the criticism that they should have scored more, he said, but if the chances keep coming the goals will follow. Fulham had 10 shots in the first half alone.
He pointed to the clean sheet as a platform for what comes next. Keeping clean sheets, he said, gives the team a chance to win games. That wasn’t easy against Hull, because Ryan Sessegnon was sent off in stoppage time and Fulham finished with 10 men.
One goal and one clean sheet don’t make a season. But Fulham needed exactly this, and Iwobi has his first league goal of the campaign. Arbeloa has bought himself time.
Fulham visit Coventry City on Saturday, October 24, and Iwobi will want to keep the run going. Fans can read the Bet9ja promotion code guide before the trip.
