Abia Comets are back in the Nigeria National League after taking over the league place of Right2Win FC, club chairman Boniface ‘Bontus’ Uche has confirmed. As reported by FootballInNigeria.com.ng, the Umuahia club were relegated to the Nationwide League One (NLO) at the end of 2025/26, but never played a game there.
Right2Win FC, also from Umuahia, won the NLO promotion playoffs in Aba. The club then sold its NNL place to Abia Comets, according to Uche.
Uche is a brother of former Super Eagles captain Okechukwu Uche. He said the process wasn’t easy, and that he is grateful to the Right2Win owner, whom he called a nice man.
