Deutsch believes the trip to Gombe offers a chance for the team to show a different side of themselves, saying preparations have gone well and the squad is fully focused on the challenge. He said, “We are calm for the game,” and praised the good accommodation and hospitality the team has enjoyed during their stay.
Deutsch Airs Frustration Over Off-Field Noise
Despite the positive mood around preparations, Deutsch used the platform to voice frustration over what he described as ongoing distractions surrounding the club, particularly reports and commentary circulating in the media and online. He suggested that some of what’s being said reflects certain individuals’ hidden motives, and warned that such noise risks affecting the players’ mentality.
Praise For The Chairman’s Support
The coach commended the club chairman for his continued backing of the squad, saying he has personally supported players facing difficult circumstances, including some who have lost parents, and has used his own resources to help keep the team well looked after. Deutsch contrasted this with what he called selfish interests circling the club, insisting his players remain calm regardless.
A Call For Fan Support
Deutsch appealed directly to Enyimba supporters in Abia State to stand behind the team and help shield it from distraction, stressing that discipline is essential to any success. He pointed to the club’s history as two-time CAF Champions League winners as proof of what discipline can achieve, and urged fans to rally around the rebuilding project rather than allow outside interests to derail it.
For now, he said, the focus remains squarely on Saturday’s game against Doma United.
