Rangers International players in CAF Champions League action

Former Shooting Stars coach Fatai Amoo believes Rangers International remain well placed to progress in the CAF Champions League, despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Benin Republic side AS Sobemap in the first leg of their tie in Abeokuta on Sunday.

Iwundu’s Early Goal Not Enough

The Flying Antelopes made a bright start, taking the lead in the 23rd minute through Chidozie Iwundu. Sobemap responded strongly after the break and eventually found an equaliser to level the contest by full time.

Amoo Upbeat Despite The Draw

Speaking to Completesports.com, Amoo praised Rangers’ overall display, saying the result still leaves the door open for the Enugu-based side. He said avoiding defeat at home was significant, and that Rangers can still go through if they approach the second leg with the right mindset.

He urged the team to stay switched on defensively and be more clinical in front of goal when the sides meet again in the reverse fixture, taking every chance that comes their way.
