Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored before being forced off injured, as Galatasaray came from behind twice to beat Istanbul Basaksehir 3-2 in a dramatic Turkish Super Lig clash on Friday.
Osimhen put the defending champions ahead in the 13th minute, finishing off a pass from Lucas Torreira. He was unable to continue after picking up an injury, receiving treatment on the pitch before being replaced by Baris Alper Yilmaz in the 33rd minute. The nature and severity of the injury have not yet been disclosed.
A Dramatic Finish Without Him
Basaksehir responded after the break, with Eldor Shomurodov levelling the score in the 66th minute. Galatasaray regained the lead five minutes later through Torreira, only for a Davinson Sanchez own goal to bring the hosts level again. Gabriel Sara ultimately settled the contest with a dramatic 90th-minute winner, sealing a 3-2 victory that kept Galatasaray’s strong start to the season intact.
A Prolific Start To The Campaign
The goal takes Osimhen to six goals and two assists in just four league appearances this season, continuing the red-hot form he has shown since the campaign began. His fitness will now be one to watch ahead of Galatasaray’s next fixtures, and for Nigeria as they build towards their AFCON 2027 qualifiers this month.
