Super Eagles winger Yira Sor is set to spend around six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury.

Sor picked up the injury during Amedspor’s 2-1 win over Trabzonspor at the Seyrantepe Spor Kompleksi Stadyumu on Monday. He had earlier drawn the hosts level in first-half stoppage time, cancelling out Mohamed Salah’s opener for Trabzonspor, before being unable to continue after the break. He was replaced by fellow Nigerian Gift Orban four minutes into the second half, and it was Orban who went on to score the winning goal in the 90th minute.

An 11-Centimetre Muscle Tear

Amedspor later confirmed the extent of the injury following medical examinations. In a statement on their official website, the club said MRI scans revealed an approximately 11 centimetre muscle injury in Sor’s left biceps femoris, with treatment and rehabilitation expected to last around six weeks.

A Short-Lived Start In Turkey

Sor joined Amedspor from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk last month. He had scored one goal in three league appearances for the Turkish Süper Lig outfit before this setback, meaning his early momentum at the club is now interrupted by a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
