Shooting Stars have confirmed the permanent transfer of winger Ismail Ayodele to Egyptian Premier League club Modern Sport, sports247.ng reports.
The 22 year old, born on 16 November 2003, completes his move to the Cairo based club for an undisclosed fee, ending his spell with the Oluyole Warriors. Ayodele operates primarily from the left flank and drew attention for his pace and technical ability during his time in Ibadan, contributing four goals and four assists in 35 league appearances last season as Shooting Stars finished third in the NPFL and secured continental qualification for the first time in 27 years.
A Deal That Nearly Fell Apart
The move follows a tense few weeks between club and player. Shooting Stars had declared Ayodele absent without leave last month after he failed to report for pre-season training despite a year remaining on his contract, and the club went as far as reporting his agent, Abdelhamid Adel of AMB Sports Management, to FIFA over the unauthorised absence. Ayodele subsequently returned to the club and issued an apology to management, coaching staff, teammates and supporters before the Egypt move was finalised.
Shooting Stars confirmed that all outstanding matters involving the club, the player’s representatives and AMB Sports Management have now been resolved amicably, clearing the way for the transfer to go through.
A Fresh Start In Cairo
Modern Sport, who play their home matches at Al Salam Stadium, have identified Ayodele as part of their squad reinforcement plans for the new season, with club officials citing his speed and technical qualities as key attributes they hope will strengthen the left side of their attack. For Shooting Stars, his departure means new head coach Salisu Yusuf will need to find a replacement winger as he prepares the club for their CAF Confederation Cup campaign against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien.
