NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens have strengthened their squad for the upcoming CAF continental campaign by signing Oluwakemi Adegbuyi from fellow top flight side FC Robo Queens.
Adegbuyi arrives in Benin City as the reigning NWFL Player of the Season, having also claimed the Golden Ball for the 2025/26 campaign after a standout run of form for FC Robo Queens. Her performances, defined by pace, composure in front of goal and consistent attacking influence, made her one of the most talked-about players in the Nigerian women’s top flight last season.
Timely Reinforcement For A Continental Push
The signing comes at a significant moment for Edo Queens, who retained their NWFL title after finishing top of the Super Six standings with a goalless draw against Bayelsa Queens in June, securing back to back league success under head coach Moses Aduku. That triumph earned the Benin City club a return trip to continental competition, with Edo Queens set to represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers running from 13 August to 5 September, a tournament that offers a route into the CAF Women’s Champions League and, ultimately, the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
Edo Queens are no strangers to that stage. The club won the WAFU Zone B qualifiers outright in 2024 on their first appearance and went on to finish as the fourth best side in Africa at that year’s CAF Women’s Champions League, giving this year’s squad a benchmark to build on.

For Adegbuyi, the move represents a step up in competition after establishing herself domestically. Having already won individual honours in the NWFL, she now joins a squad being assembled specifically to compete for continental silverware, with expectations that her directness and eye for goal can add another dimension to Edo Queens’ attack.
