Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa has completed a move to Swedish champions BK Hacken, signing a three-year contract with the Damallsvenskan side on a free transfer following her departure from English Women’s Super League 2 club Nottingham Forest.

Omewa becomes the second Nigerian at BK Hacken, joining experienced midfielder Halimatu Ayinde, who is already an established member of the squad. Her move follows a standout 2024/25 campaign at Danish club Fortuna Hjorring, where she scored 22 league goals in 24 appearances to help the club to a domestic league and cup double.

Omewa described her time in Denmark as a pivotal stretch in her development, explaining that she worked hard on becoming more clinical and efficient in and around the penalty area, telling the club’s official website that mastering her finishing inside the box was a major focus. She said joining BK Hacken felt like an easy decision, calling it the right club to keep developing her game.

BK Hacken football director Martin Ericsson welcomed the signing, praising Omewa’s physical power and finishing instincts and predicting she will make a real impact at the club, adding, “her instinct for scoring goals is clear.”

Omewa is currently part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and is expected to join BK Hacken once the tournament concludes.
