Tolu Arokodare’s future at Wolverhampton Wanderers is looking increasingly uncertain, with Trabzonspor becoming the first club to make an official move for the Super Eagles striker this summer.

According to Turkish journalist Zeki Uzundurukan, Trabzonspor have submitted a loan bid to Wolves as they look to strengthen their attack before the new Super Lig season begins. The Turkish side are said to view Arokodare as a possible replacement for fellow Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu, should he leave the club this summer.

Interest in Arokodare has grown since Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season ended an eight-year run in England’s top flight. The club are now rebuilding for a push back to the top division under new coach Cesar Peixoto, who replaced Rob Edwards, while also bringing in experienced additions like Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez.

Trabzonspor are not the only Turkish club circling. Besiktas have reportedly been tracking Arokodare for months and previously had a verbal offer of around 15 million euros turned down by Wolves, while also enlisting the help of former Nigerian international Daniel Amokachi and Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to help persuade the striker. Fenerbahce have also emerged as suitors as they explore the English market for attacking reinforcements, and Galatasaray are said to have asked Victor Osimhen to help convince his compatriot to join them in Istanbul.

Wolves, for their part, are said to prefer a permanent sale rather than a loan, hoping to recoup a significant portion of the roughly £24 million they paid Genk to sign Arokodare last summer. His current valuation has made a straightforward permanent deal difficult, leaving a loan back to continental Europe as the more realistic path for now.

Arokodare made 33 Premier League appearances last season but started only 13 of them, and the returning Raul Jimenez adds further competition for a starting spot. With three years still left on his contract, however, Wolves are under no immediate pressure to accept an offer, and the situation is expected to develop over the coming weeks.
