Kano Pillars have confirmed the appointment of Daniel Ogunmodede as their new technical adviser ahead of the 2026/27 NPFL season, with the club welcoming him to the Sai Masu Gida family in a statement posted on their official X account.
Ogunmodede is expected to sign a two year deal with the four-time NPFL champions, opening a new chapter for one of Nigerian football’s most successful clubs.
Fresh Off Historic Remo Stars Success
The 46 year old arrives in Kano with a strong reputation, having guided Remo Stars to their maiden NPFL title in the 2024/25 season, a breakthrough that ended years of near misses for the Ikenne based club. Under his leadership, Remo Stars became known for attractive, attacking football and a disciplined defensive structure, establishing themselves as one of the league’s most competitive sides.
He stepped down from his role at Remo Stars towards the end of last season, after several years spent turning the club into genuine title contenders and regulars in CAF interclub competition. Ogunmodede currently also serves as an assistant coach to Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle.
A Chance To Restore Pillars’ Fortunes
Kano Pillars’ hierarchy will be hoping Ogunmodede can bring similar success to the Sai Masu Gida, who have gone several seasons without a league title and only avoided relegation on the final day of last season. Building a squad capable of competing for domestic honours and continental qualification now becomes the priority for the incoming technical adviser.
