Werder Bremen’s sporting director Peter Niemeyer has confirmed that Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface willnot play again this season after suffering a serious knee injury that has kept him out since December.
Boniface picked up the knee problem during training last year and subsequently underwent surgery in January to address the issue, which has led the club to rule him out for the remainder of the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign.
Niemeyer stressed that although Boniface has resumed rehabilitation and light training, it remains “impossible to predict how quickly he’ll be fully fit”, and Bremen do not expect him back before the season’s end.
The 25 year old Nigerian forward, who joined Werder on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, made 11 league appearances before the injury but did not score, contributing a couple of assists in his time on the pitch.
