Flying Eagles defender Emmanuel Chukwu joins Wolfsberger AC on loan

A new step in Emmanuel Chukwu’s career has been confirmed, as the Flying Eagles defender moves on loan to Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC from TSG Hoffenheim for the 2025/26 season. The 18 year old centre-back completed his switch after joining Hoffenheim earlier this year from Grassrunners Football Club.

Chukwu, who starred in all six matches for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, now links up with compatriot Chibuike Nwaiwu at Wolfsberger.

Although he has yet to make a senior appearance for Hoffenheim, the loan deal is intended to offer Chukwu meaningful competitive minutes and accelerate his development.

Wolfsberger AC, who qualified for European competition, see the Nigerian youngster as a long-term investment and a chance to build a stronger defensive unit.
