Comfort Erhabor Joins Portsmouth FC Women Permanently for WSL2 Season

Nigerian goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor has officially joined Portsmouth FC Women on a permanent basis, ahead of the 2025–26 Women’s Super League 2 campaign. The 20 year old completed a free transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion, signing a one year contract with an option to extend for another season.

Erhabor first impressed while on loan at Portsmouth during the latter half of last season, where she became an integral part of the squad. She previously gained experience on loan at Plymouth Argyle and Scottish side Hibernian, following her development at Brighton’s academy.

Portsmouth head coach Jay Sadler praised her character and shot-stopping ability, saying: “Comfort has real potential and will bring strong competition to our goalkeeping department.” His confidence in her capabilities was clear, as the club looks to build on its survival in WSL 2.

Erhabor has represented Nigeria at Under‑17 level and is now seen as a possible contender for Under‑20 and even senior Super Falcons duty in the future.

We see Comfort Erhabor’s move to Portsmouth as a smart career progression one grounded in performance, patience and opportunity. Instead of chasing glamour projects, the young goalkeeper chose a club where she proved her worth and earned trust; that decision speaks volumes.

For Portsmouth, her permanent signing is no gamble it’s a reward for consistency. Having impressed during her loan spell, Erhabor now arrives with proven composure between the sticks. Her presence enhances competition, instills confidence and raises standards in a squad preparing for the rigours of WSL 2.

Her international experience also adds depth. Having worn Nigeria’s colours at youth level, the next call-up could well be around the corner. Playing consistently in England’s second tier may bring that closer a reminder that ambition paired with the right club environment can accelerate development.

Beyond individual accolades, this reflects Portsmouth’s evolution. Once amateur, now fully professional in a competitive WSL 2, the club is building a strong pathway that welcomes talent such as Erhabor not as visitors, but as architects of their own progression.

We expect Comfort’s growth to mirror that of her club: steady, structured and full of potential, not headlines. And we believe her journey will resonate back home showcasing that thoughtful moves can build careers.
