EFL League One club Blackpool have announced the signing of promising forward Zaccai Etuhu from Accrington Stanley. Etuhu has joined the Seasiders on a two-year scholarship deal running until June 30, 2027.
Coming from a footballing family with deep ties to the professional game, Zaccai’s father, Dickson Etuhu, was a key figure for the Super Eagles, representing Nigeria at both the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. His uncle, Kevin Etuhu, previously featured for Manchester City, while his younger brother, Zavion, is currently developing his talents in the academy ranks at Liverpool.
For the upcoming season, Zaccai will represent Blackpool U18s, who are coached by Matthew Blinkhorn. Blinkhorn describes Etuhu as a player who can make things happen in 1v1 situations and has the potential physically to become a real handful once he gets up to speed within the club’s programme. Etuhu has already made his non-competitive debut for Blackpool, featuring for the entirety of the second half of a 1-0 loss to Squires Gate at the Skiddle Community Stadium.
The winger will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Super Eagles right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel, who rose through the ranks to make his first-team debut for Blackpool while still a teenager.
Zaccai Etuhu’s move to Blackpool marks a significant step in his footballing journey, and his development at the club will be closely watched by fans and football enthusiasts alike.
