Werder Bremen full‑back Felix Agu, now an eligible Super Eagles player, has set his sights on leading Nigeria to victory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Agu formalised his international switch after being cleared by FIFA, following two Germany U21 friendlies in 2019 a move he described as a way to “connect more to my roots”. He made his debut during the Unity Cup in London, playing 83 minutes in the final as Nigeria drew 2–2 with Jamaica before winning on penalties.
At just 25, Agu believes success with Nigeria would eclipse any club achievement. He declared, “The goal is to win the African Cup of Nations again not just make the final, but win it. Of course… to qualify for the World Cup, and it’s next year so we’ll try our best to make it”.
Coach Eric Chelle has welcomed his arrival, seeing him as a valuable addition to a squad already brimming with talent such as Tella, Onyeka, Boniface and Maduka Okoye all of whom greeted Agu warmly.
