Nigeria’s Joshua Udoh, a midfielder for Al Ain FC, has etched his name into the record books by becoming the youngest African ever to appear in a FIFA Club World Cup match. He made history at just 17 years and 349 days, coming off the bench in Al Ain’s 5–0 defeat to Juventus during the Group G opener on 18 June 2025.
Born on 5 July 2007, Udoh progressed through Al Ain’s youth system before earning a place in the senior squad. By making his appearance, he now holds the distinction of being both the youngest African competitor in the expanded 32-team tournament and the first Nigerian to take part.
