Samson Bolaji Ajayi has wrapped up an impressive debut season in Europe, slowly establishing himself as a dependable figure for Lithuania’s FK Babrungas.
The Nigerian midfielder described the experience as a huge learning curve noting how adapting to a new football culture, climate and style of play challenged him more than he initially expected.
Ajayi said one of his proudest moments came when he scored a crucial goal in a 3–1 victory for Babrungas, helping the team secure important points in I Lyga, the country’s second division.
He added that the fitness demands were high and the tempo different from what he’d experienced in previous leagues. But despite those challenges, Ajayi believes he grew stronger physically and mentally over the course of the season.
Reflecting on opportunities ahead, Ajayi expressed ambition to use his time in Lithuania as a springboard. He said he hopes to attract interest from clubs in higher-tier European leagues, stressing that his ultimate goal is to play at “a much bigger stage.”
For now, he plans to head into the preseason focused on improving even further particularly in areas like distribution, defensive positioning, and leadership so he can make the next step in his career.
