Benjamin Fredrick: Nigeria’s Young Defender Making Waves Across West Africa

A Nigerian centre-back, Benjamin Chiemela Fredrick, is turning heads across West Africa with his displays at youth and senior levels.

Fredrick progressed through the Simoiben Football Academy before stints with ABS and Nasarawa United in the Nigerian domestic leagues.  In August 2023, he joined Brentford on loan, with the Premier League side later activating the purchase option to sign him permanently.

In July 2025, Fredrick was loaned to Belgian Pro League club Dender EH, where he has begun adapting to European football. Internationally, he starred for Nigeria at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and made his senior Super Eagles debut on 31 May 2025 in a friendly against Jamaica.
