Super Eagles Injury Scare for New Defender Not as Serious as Feared

Initial concerns that newly-capped Super Eagles defender Ryan Alebiosu would be sidelined for the rest of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations have been significantly eased.

The 24 year old, who recently made his first start for Nigeria, picked up a cut during the group stage fixture against Uganda. Early reports suggested he might be ruled out of the tournament.

However, his club, Blackburn Rovers, has played down the severity of the injury, indicating that Alebiosu’s cut is not major and he is expected to remain available for the Super Eagles’ AFCON campaign.
