Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has suffered what Rangers manager Russell Martin described as a “nasty” ankle injury during their 2-1 UEFA Champions League qualifier loss to Viktoria Plzen. The 30 year old was substituted around the 54th minute and is now wearing a brace as scans are awaited to determine the extent of the damage.
Martin cautioned, “Yeah, it looks like a nasty one. So he’s in a brace now. We’ll have to just wait and see over the next couple of days, have a scan and see.” He added, “We’ll keep our fingers crossed it’s not too bad for the big man.” . The injury comes at a particularly sensitive time for Nigeria, with the 2026 World Cup qualifiers looming just weeks away.
