Chidiebere Nwobodo has rejoined his boyhood club, Enugu Rangers, after a season with APR FC in Rwanda. At just 21, the forward has been bestowed with the captain’s armband as the Flying Antelopes pursue domestic glory this term.
Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, General Manager and CEO of Rangers, officially confirmed Nwobodo’s return and new leadership role during a training session at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium (‘The Cathedral’) on 7 July. The 2023/2024 league-winning side also unveiled Austin Opara as vice-captain, with Evans Ogbonda appointed as the ‘player coordinator’, reflecting a structured leadership revamp under head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.
Meanwhile, forward Oluwasegun Oloruntoba has completed a move to Enugu Rangers, arriving from an unspecified club. His unveiling at training rounds off a flurry of signings ahead of the new NPFL season.
The reinforcements aim to help Rangers defend their 2023/2024 NPFL title and compete for the President Federation Cup. The club remains firmly focused on pursuing a domestic double this season.
