The NPFL’s decision to hand Beyond Limits’ slot to Heartland was based on concerns over dual ownership between Beyond Limits and Remo Stars, a club already competing in the NPFL, which constitutes a breach of Rule B11.4 of the NPFL Framework and Rules. As a result, the slot previously occupied by Beyond Limits Football Academy was relinquished and subsequently handed over to Heartland FC.
Kun Khalifat FC, a privately owned club based in Owerri, Imo State, has now been promoted to the NPFL. They join Warri Wolves, Wikki Tourists, and Barau FC as the four newly promoted teams for the 2025/26 NPFL season.
