English Clubs in Race to Sign Durosinmi

Several English clubs are reportedly competing to sign Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi from Czech side Viktoria Plzen in the January transfer window.

According to reports, Hull City, Derby County, Oxford United, and Huddersfield Town have all expressed interest in acquiring the 22 year old. Durosinmi is entering the final six months of his contract with Plzen, which could make him available for a reduced fee — estimated at approximately £5.7 million (€6.5 m).

Durosinmi has made an impressive return following a lengthy layoff due to a serious double ACL injury.  Since returning to action, he has scored five league goals in 14 appearances and has amassed nine goals in 21 appearances in all competitions this season.

The interest in Durosinmi is widely reported; for example, Football Insider confirms the four EFL clubs’ pursuit of him. His potential availability on a cut-price deal, given his contract situation, makes him an attractive target for clubs looking for a young, prolific forward.

Editorial

Rafiu Durosinmi is more than just a promising young striker  he is a project. And the interest from Hull City, Derby County, Oxford, and Huddersfield Town reflects just how much belief there is in his potential.

Getting a deal done in January for a player in the final six months of his contract is a shrewd move for any of these clubs. They would acquire talent, upside, and possibly a long-term asset  all without breaking the bank. That said, it requires courage and conviction: Durosinmi is still rebuilding after a serious double ACL injury.

For Durosinmi himself, this could be a career-defining moment. A move to England would not only raise his profile but also test him in a different tactical and physically demanding environment. If he thrives, it will validate the risk that clubs are willing to take. If he falters, they will hope his ceiling remains high enough to be worth it.

For the watching world, this is compelling. Not every young striker returns from injury. But Durosinmi is doing more than returning — he’s reminding clubs why they once chased him.
