Uche’s Agent Dismisses Premier League Transfer Rumours

Christantus Uche’s agent, Peter Ejiasi, has dismissed growing reports linking the Getafe midfielder with a move to England this summer. The 22 year old, who recently impressed for Nigeria in the Unity Cup, has been linked with clubs including Leeds United, Brentford, Sunderland, and Aston Villa.

Uche enjoyed a breakout season in La Liga, scoring four goals and assisting six in 33 appearances. His standout performances earned him a call-up from Nigeria coach Eric Chelle, culminating in a memorable international debut. The midfielder scored the winning penalty in a shootout against Jamaica, helping the Super Eagles lift the Unity Cup last weekend.

Despite rumours suggesting a Premier League move could be imminent, Ejiasi was quick to dismiss the speculation. Speaking to Yohaig NG, he stated, “There is nothing in those stories. Uche is a happy player of Getafe and is currently in Russia fully committed to his national team duties.”

Ejiasi, who previously represented AFCON 2013 winner Obiora Nwankwo, acknowledged that transfer windows often attract fictional stories and baseless gossip. “We are calm. When the transfer window opens, you’ll hear a lot of news some fiction, some gossip. It’s still too early to say what (the outcome) can be, even though it is a good thing for the lad. It shows he is doing something right,” he added.

Uche remains under contract with Getafe until the end of the 2027–28 season.
