Sunshine Stars FC of Akure has bolstered its squad for the second phase of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL season by signing 16 new players and promoting three from their youth academy. The Owena Whales aim to improve their performance after a challenging first half of the season.
The new signings include experienced players from both domestic and international clubs, such as Waheed Adebayo Lobi Stars, Daniel Edeh El Gouna, Egypt, Liman Ahmadu Lobi Stars, Okeke Vincent Bendel Insurance, Edafe Vincent Remo Stars, Ebuka Anaekwe Kwara United, and Uche Onwuasonaya Shooting Stars. Other notable additions are Chukwudi Esobe Heartland, Sadiq AbduRazak Niger Tornadoes, and Henry Elum Shooting Stars.
From the youth team, Ariyo Ikulamberu, Christopher Richards, and Samuel Matthew have been promoted to the senior squad. Club President Bamidele Ologunloluwa expressed optimism about the new additions, highlighting their potential to address the team’s challenges and elevate its position in the league standings.
