Nigerian international striker Opeyemi Ajakaye has joined the Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League NWSL and is currently on loan to USL Super League side Carolina Ascent for the remainder of the 2024 fall schedule. The 18 year old previously played for Madrid CFF in Spain’s Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino.
A standout performer for Nigeria at the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup and the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, Ajakaye also earned her senior debut for the Super Falcons during an Olympic qualifier against Ethiopia in October 2023.
