After an 18 month hiatus, Nigerian international Kingsley Madu has resumed his professional football career, signing with Slovak First Football League side MFK Zemplín Michalovce. The 29 year old left back, who last played for AS Trenčín, has agreed to a contract lasting until the summer of 2026, with an option for an additional year.

Editorial

Kingsley Madu’s signing with MFK Zemplín Michalovce is a testament to perseverance and the resilience required to overcome challenges in professional football. After 18 months without a club, Madu’s determination to return to the sport demonstrates an inspiring narrative for players facing similar hurdles.

For Michalovce, this signing is strategic. Madu’s wealth of experience and proven success in Slovakia’s top league make him a valuable addition to the team. His presence alongside fellow Nigerians Zubair and Adekunle could also foster cohesion and improve team dynamics.

This move also reignites discussions about the need for robust player support systems, particularly for African players transitioning between clubs or leagues.
