Houston Dynamo FC has signed Nigerian defender Obafemi Awodesu to a first team contract through the 2025 season, with options to extend through 2026 and 2027. Awodesu becomes the sixth player from Houston Dynamo 2 to earn a promotion to the senior team.
Awodesu joined Houston Dynamo 2 for the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season, where he made 29 starts, tallying 2,520 minutes the highest in the league. He played a pivotal role in the team’s backline, leading in completed passes 1,489 and clearances 41. The 23 year old also contributed two goals and one assist, including a memorable goal against Austin FC II on July 11.
