St Pauli winger Dapo Afolayan is drawing attention from several Championship clubs as the summer transfer window enters its final three weeks. Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion, Blackburn Rovers and Swansea City have all reportedly showed interest, while Belgian sides Gent and Racing Genk continue to monitor the star’s situation.
The 27 year old forward, now in the final year of his contract after joining the Bundesliga side from Bolton Wanderers in January 2023, is closing in on 100 appearances for St Pauli he needs 16 more to reach that milestone, having already notched 16 goals and seven assists.
Afolayan began his career in the Chelsea academy and went on to play for Toronto FC, Barnet, Tooting & Mitcham United, Loughborough University, Solihull Moors and West Ham United with loan spells at Oldham Athletic, Mansfield Town and Bolton.
Though born in London and having played for England C, he remains eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level. He demonstrated his intent by visiting the Super Eagles’ camp in London during the Unity Cup in May to meet Nigeria Football Federation officials.
