Barcelona have shown interest in Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, who is expected to leave Atalanta at the end of the season.
According to reports from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga giants admire Lookmanโs talent, but he is not among their first or second choices for the winger position in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Lookmanโs relationship with Atalanta has reportedly soured following a clash with manager Gian Piero Gasperini over a missed penalty in a Champions League match against Club Brugge. The Charlton Athletic academy product has since made his intention to depart this summer clear.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported that the Nigerian international is almost certain to leave Atalanta at the end of the current campaign. Barcelona, keen to strengthen their attack, are considering Lookman as one of several options. Other targets include Athletic Bilbaoโs Nico Williams and Liverpoolโs Luis Dรญaz.
Lookmanโs contract runs until the summer of 2026, but Atalanta may opt to cash in on him for around โฌ30 million to avoid losing the 27-year-old on a free transfer in future seasons. Since joining the Italian side from RB Leipzig in August 2022, Lookman has racked up 50 goals and 22 assists in 110 appearances across all competitions.
Currently on international duty with Nigeria, Lookman played a pivotal role in the Super Eaglesโ 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Fridayโs 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Editorial
We believe Ademola Lookman has earned the attention of Europeโs biggest clubs. His impressive form with Atalanta and his influential role for the Super Eagles make him a standout figure. Yet, itโs no surprise that heโs not Barcelonaโs top priority the Catalan club is spoiled for choice when it comes to attacking talent.
But this situation presents Lookman with an opportunity rather than a setback. Even if heโs not first on Barcelonaโs list, being mentioned as a target by one of the worldโs top clubs is a testament to how far he has come. It also puts him on the radar of other big teams who may be looking for a dynamic, versatile forward with proven ability.
Whatโs clear is that Lookmanโs departure from Atalanta is almost certain, especially given his fallout with the manager. While โฌ30 million seems like a fair price, we think his value could rise further, particularly if he continues to deliver strong performances for club and country.
We should also note that leaving Atalanta could offer him a fresh start in an environment where his contributions are better appreciated. Whether itโs Barcelona, another top La Liga side, or even a Premier League return, we feel Lookman is poised for the next step in his career. Heโs proven he can handle pressure, score goals, and provide assists at the highest level. Now itโs time to see him do it on an even bigger stage.
